THAMES VALLEY TIME TRIAL
at Dorney. 1900m.
The Senior girls raced as two double sculls -
Bella Kidd and Christabel Adam raced aggressively to finish 2nd out of the 4 crews in the event. The girls then immediately jumped in their coxed four, coxed by Esther Freud, to race again, with not such pleasing results as the doubles.
D ROWING TRAINING DAY
WITH A ROWING LESSON FOR PARENTS
A lot of fun, despite the absolutely FREEZING weather.
Thank you to all the brave parents, and their patient coaches !
We hope to repeat this occasion early in the Summer term.
WYCLIFFE BIG HEAD
4.5 km on the Gloucester-Sharpness Canal
Most of our entries this weekend were hit by the now seemingly inevitable school virus. Only the Senior and B boys soldiered on ! This is a gruelling race - particular congratulations to James Dodd and Olly White on completing it twice.
I refuse to publicise what Piers Barnett was doing.
The boys were 3rd/4 in Mens Senior 4 Coxless Quads and 5th/5 in the J18 Coxless Quads - keen to stress that the opposition was huge - although as we all know that's not really an excuse !
GB JUNIOR TEAM TRIALS
Piers Barnett improved on his 5km erg score - to 17:35.
In half term, he went to another time trial in Boston, racing in a single scull on one day and a rowing pair the next. His results were fair, but the competition is now extremely intense and he now waits to see if he will survive the cut.

AUTUMN TERM 2005 RESULTS
Bryanston-Canford Time Trials
We had two successful friendlies for our single scullers with Canford.
In the first, Piers Barnett finished fastest of all the competitiors; the best Canford sculler got revenge on his home water in the second. The quickest senior girl was Bella Kidd, and the best C performances came from Theo Hammond and Kate Bertram.
We held a training day at the Eton Rowing Lake at Dorney, venue for this year's world championships, and for the 2012 Olympic rowing.
Pangbourne Junior Sculls
C Boys Quad: 4th/7
Senior Girls Coxless Quad: 4th/6
Exceptionally good results from PIERS BARNETT and JAMES DODD:
Piers was 3rd overall in the J18/17 singles out of 57 competitiors.
In the J18 doubles, Piers and James were 3rd out of 14, which placed them 13th fastest crew in the entire event (of over 400 boats).
Wycliffe Small Boats Head
Another impressive scull from James Dodd - he finished 2nd out of 6 scullers in the Mens Senior 4 event.
Piers Barnett was 5th out of 15 in the Mens J18 Singles.
The C Boys quad secured another creditable result - 4th out of 6 in J15 Coxed quads.
Senior Girls Coxless Quad: 4th/4
Hugh Rycroft: 11th/13 in MJ15 Singles.
GB Junior Team Trials
Piers Barnett has impressed everyone with his dedication and hard work in putting himself through the GB trials system, coached by Tony Taylor. In November, he raced at Boston in Lincolnshire in a single scull over 5km. With only seconds between the competitors over the 20 minutes, he finished in 52nd place, out of 160 scullers all trialling for the GB team. He has also been required to complete two 5km erg tests; his best score was an impressive 17:37.
Christmas Regatta
We finished off the term in good spirits with a splash and dash Christmas Regatta.
I can't remember who won, but we did have some excellent fancy dress, particularly from a couple of Santas and some fairies. The humiliation of the staff team in the final race should be quickly forgotten. I blame the cox.

Wycliffe Big Head
Good results from a gruelling race in miserable conditions.
Although the events were small, all the crews performed very well.

This is an encouraging performance after only three weeks of training. Hampton has always been a high standard event, but has often been cancelled as a result of flooding in recent years.
