LATEST NEWS... 2009

Good results have come from the second friendly time trial with Canford and excellent performances from the boys at Henley Sculls, including a win for Harry Jay and Will rowe in the J15 Double Sculls.

We attended a friendly time trial at Canford on 26/9/09.

There were FIVE event wins from Monkton Head on the 10th October and an impressive 4th place out of 11 for Claire Rafferty and Harry Aitchison in Intermediate 3 Mixed Doubles at the Pairs Head on the 17th.

BSBC won 20 events in the regatta season of 2009 - this is very encouraging indeed and a sign that we are set to perform with increasing success in higher profile events in the 09-10 season. One of our main aims is to generate a boys' 1st VIII good enough to qualify for Henley 2010. We also hope to send crews to the National Schools' Regatta with the ability to get past the time trial stage, and we have two rowers who will be engaging in the GB junior trials system, Harry Aitchison and Claire Rafferty. We are delighted that Peter Wells has decided to stay on the coaching team for another year, and are pleased to welcome Adam Mackenzie, previously Captain of Bristol University Boat Club, and Bryony Britten, the new Head of History.

The end of term regatta was a display of great racing and an impressive 1 minute sprint competition for our best performers on ergs. Will Skuse got a new 1000m erg record for senior boys.

Winning houses: Dorset, Harthan, Cranborne.
Single sculling winners: Sam Hoare, Claire Rafferty, Peter Thorp, Lizzie Post, Harry Aitchison, Naomi Richardson, Will Rowe, Gerogie Deverell.
Erg winners: Will Skuse, Claire Rafferty, Oscar Petit, Lizzie Post, Phil Hughes, Grace Collier-Large, Gianmarco Fiorentino, Alex DuValle
