Course Details

A level sport and PE is a complex course that involves a number of different areas of study.

In Year 1, students follow courses in Phyisology, Skill Acquisition, Socio-cultural and Historical areas of sport.

In addition, they compete 2 pieces of coursework (an Exercise Programme, and a Project analysing strengths and weaknesses)

In Year 2, students expand and develop their knowledge through courses in Physiology, Biomechanics, Psychology, and the Development of elite sport.

In addition, they complete some written coursework focussing on how diffferent areas of the course are relevant to a sporting performer and a practical component where they need to demonstrate their own skills in addition to an understanding about how they could improve their performance to a higher level.

During the 2nd world war, the ANZAC's formed 2 teams - Australia vs New Zealand and played cricket in their free time. The matches were very hard fought ending sometimes in fighting. The Turkish soldiers use to watch from on top of the hill and wonder, "Are these people fighting us or are they fighting each other?"
